7th National TB and Leprosy Stakeholders Conference

  • 27–28 November 2024
  • Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala

USTP helped organise the national conference, where the Prime Minister called for TB survivors to benefit from government social protection programmes.

USTP played a leading role in organising the 7th National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Stakeholders Conference, held on 27–28 November 2024 under the theme “Advancing Multi-sectoral and Multi-stakeholder Engagement and Accountability to End TB and Achieve Zero Leprosy in Uganda”.

The conference emphasised the meaningful participation of civil society organisations. It was also where key resources were shared: the finalised TB leaders’ handbook, the Global Stop TB Partnership Governance report 2024 and male gender-responsive messaging materials, alongside the latest government reports on TB control.

“Like a team working together to score goals”

The Chief Guest, Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, compared the fight against TB to a football team passing the ball towards the net. She called on local government leaders and stakeholders to prioritise TB survivors as beneficiaries of government programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga and other social protection initiatives.

Achieving the End TB Strategy requires consistent teamwork, resource sharing and a focused drive to score the ultimate goal: ending TB as a public health threat by 2030.

TB survivors gave testimonies during the conference, and the USTP Board Chair made remarks on behalf of civil society.
