At Nakawuka Health Centre III in Wakiso District, an alarming three-month period without any TB case detections highlighted gaps in service delivery, including passive TB screening and inadequate coordination. With support from USAID Defeat TB, a quality improvement (QI) initiative transformed TB care by training health workers, appointing a TB focal person, and strengthening referral systems. Over just three months, TB screening rates skyrocketed from 19% to 99%, leading to the detection of 22 new TB cases.
