Dr. Achilles Katamba

Experience & Activities

Dr. Katamba serves as the Chairperson of the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Research Working Group at Uganda Stop TB Partnership (USTP). In this capacity, he provides strategic leadership in designing, implementing, and evaluating research initiatives to support evidence-based decision-making in TB control. His work ensures that USTP’s programs and interventions are informed by robust data and cutting-edge research.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Overseeing the M&E and Research Working Group, ensuring alignment with USTP’s goals of advancing TB control through innovative and data-driven approaches.
Research Mentorship: Mentoring Ugandan physicians, scientists, and investigators to enhance their skills in translational research, bridging the gap between research findings and practical implementation.
Program Evaluation: Developing and implementing frameworks to assess the impact of TB and TB/HIV interventions, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
Capacity Building: Strengthening the research capacity of USTP and its partners, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and innovation.

Dr. Katamba brings extensive experience in infectious diseases, with a focus on tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS. His expertise includes:

Leading HIV/AIDS and TB projects, addressing both prevention and treatment challenges.
