Experience & Activities

Robert Nakibumba is a highly respected TB activist with extensive experience working across diverse organizations that implement and support TB and TB/HIV control activities. As the Chairperson of the ACSM Working Group at Uganda Stop TB Partnership (USTP), he plays a pivotal role in driving advocacy, communication, and social mobilization efforts for TB control in Uganda and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership in ACSM: Directing and overseeing strategies that raise awareness, foster advocacy, and mobilize communities to combat TB and TB/HIV.
  • Representation and Advocacy: Championing the voices of the TB/HIV constituency, advocating for equitable representation in decision-making platforms, and influencing policy changes to prioritize TB control.
  • Global and Local Advocacy: Engaging in global and national forums to promote Uganda’s TB control agenda and share best practices.
  • Research Engagement: Actively participating in TB-related research, including TB vaccine research, to support innovative solutions in combating the disease.

  • Advocacy at the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM): As the alternate member representing the TB/HIV constituency, Robert successfully demonstrated the need for separate seats for TB and HIV, highlighting his strategic foresight and unwavering commitment to both causes.
  • Pioneering ACSM Efforts: For several years, he has been at the forefront of advocacy, communication, and social mobilization, influencing public awareness and policy for TB control in Uganda and globally.
