Invitation to attend a Virtual Uganda TB Civil Society Meeting on Wednesday, 8th September 2021
Dear Partners in the fight to END TB,
Uganda Stop TB Partnership (USTP) is an umbrella Non-Government Organization that brings together different stakeholders to contribute to the National TB response. USTP is working closely with National TB Program and Partners.
USTP is organizing a meeting for the civil society including among others Non-Government Organizations, Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, Patient groups, TB Activists, TB survivors, TB Champions, private sector, celebrities, journalists etc. During the meeting there will be reflection on the Resolutions of the United Nations High Level Meeting (UNHLM) on Tuberculosis that took place on 26 September 2018 in New York and in particular focusing on the Uganda TB Targets.
Stop TB Partnership believes that there is tremendous power in what everyone is doing individually and in what we can do when we coordinate our efforts in partnership. Through this initiative we should be able to strengthen multi-stakeholder engagement and boosting advocacy for fulfillment at the country level the United Nations targets and commitments, which arose from the 2018 High-Level Meeting and Political Declaration on TB.
Prior to the UNHLM, the Stop TB Partnership, civil society and other stakeholders contributed to preparation for the high-level meeting through an interactive Civil Society Hearing. USTP is hence organizing a National Civil society hearing meeting that will eventually feed into the global one. During this meeting participants will share practical experiences, lessons learnt and challenges.
The purpose of the meeting therefore, is to remind members of their role towards achieving UNHLM targets and contribute ideas towards achieving them.
The purpose of this mail therefore, is to kindly request you to attend a virtual meeting on Wednesday 8thAugust 2021 starting at 9.00AM. The panelists will attend physically with observance of the recommended COVID-19 standard operating procedures.
